The 1st Sectoral Monitoring Committee for the Environment and Climate Action Sectoral Operational Programme (ESOP) being implemented under the IPA II Period was organised by the Department of European Union Investments (DoEUI) of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization on June 22nd, 2016 at the premises of the Ministry of EU Affairs.
The meeting was co-chaired by the Director of the Department of the EU Investments, Mr. Ferruh Parmaksız and the Acting Head of Section of EC-DG NEAR, Mr. Patrick Paquet, and the Head of Section of the Delegation of the European Union to Turkey Mr. François Begeot. Representatives of various stakeholders participated in the SMC including the European Commission, and EU Delegation to Turkey, Undersecretariat of Treasury, Ministry of EU Affairs, Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs, Ministry of Labour and Social Security, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, Ministry of Health, General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works, ILBANK A.Ş, and Civil Society Organizations.
Mr. Ferruh Parmaksız opened the meeting with welcoming remarks and was continued by Mr. Patrick Paquet. Following the approval of the Rules of Procedures, the information about the actions and activities of the ESOP and the state of play in ESOP Implementation, prioritization and selection criteria for adoption were discussed along with the Communication Action Plan for ESOP.
