The 6th Steering Committee Meeting for the Polatlı Water and Waste Water Project was held on April 6, 2016 in Polatlı. The developments and next steps forward in the implementation of this project managed by the Department of European Union Investments (DoEUI) of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization (MoEU) were discussed.
The meeting was attended by Ms. Nurhan Şen and Mr. İlhan Gültekin from the Technical Implementation Unit of the Ministry’s Department of European Union Investments. Ms. Asuman Özaltay from the European Union Delegation to Turkey were also present along with representatives of the end beneficiary General Directorate of Ankara Water and Sewerage Administration (ASKİ) and the consultant.
The components for “Polatlı Waste Water Treatment Plant and Waste Water Collection Network and Collectors” and “Technical Assistance and Supervision” are currently being implemented, while the tender for the “Construction of Polatlı Water Supply and Distribution Systems” is ready to be launched.
The project will improve the living standards of 125,887 people from the concerned area by modernising the Sewerage and Water Supply System. It will further treat the industrial waste that is being deposited into the Gulveren River and consequently into the Sakarya River ending in the Black Sea.
The total budget foreseen for this project is 23.904.695 Euro. The project is funded by national and European Union funds as part of the IPA Programme.
