Turkey-Albania Friendship Crowned Again
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the delivery ceremony of the houses built by Turkey for families who lost their homes in the earthquake that occurred in 2019 in Albania, where he visited to hold a series of contacts. Our Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Mr. Murat Kurum, accompanied our President during his visit.
Our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, visited the capital Tirana, at the invitation of the Prime Minister of Albania, Mr. Edi Rama, and attended the delivery ceremony of 522 new residences and 37 workplaces built by Turkey in the city of Laç for families who lost their homes in the earthquake that occurred in Albania in 2019. Our President, who made inspections in the residences, then handed over the keys of their new residences to the owners.

Expressing his happiness for sharing the excitement and enthusiasm of those present on the occasion of the ceremony, President Erdoğan said: "Albania's gladness is our gladness, its boredom is our boredom. We do not keep your peace and well-being separate from our own. As the people of a country that has experienced the same pain many times before, September 21 and the earthquakes that took place on November 26, 2019, broke our hearts as much as the Albanian people." he said. President Erdoğan stated that Turkey being the first country to help the region after the earthquake is the best proof of the strong solidarity between our countries. Expressing that the hospital in the Fier region, the construction of which was completed in 68 days in April last year, is also an example of this beautiful solidarity, our President reminded that the name of the hospital was named Turkey Albania Friendship Hospital to reflect the strong ties between the two countries.
Congratulating those who contributed to the realization of the project, especially our Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and Housing Development Administration (TOKİ), our President thanked all Albanian authorities in the person of Prime Minister Edi Rama for their support throughout the process.
Within the scope of the program, our President was given an honorary citizenship certificate and a plaque of appreciation in the city of Laç. Later, the square named after our President was inaugurated in the region of earthquake houses built by our Housing Development Administration (TOKİ) in the city of Laç.
"We Prepared Our New Homes With An Original Architecture"
In his speech at the ceremony, our Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Mr. Murat Kurum said, "Just as we acted in the spirit of mobilization in the floods in Giresun and Ordu, in the fires in Antalya and Muğla, just as in the earthquakes that occurred in Elazığ, Malatya and İzmir in our country, we are for Albania. We have shown the same sensitivity for our city of de Laç. We have prepared our new homes with an original architecture that is in line with the historical and cultural sense of the region, inspired by our ancient civilization values."
Stating that the relations between Turkey and Albania are built on a great bond of love and brotherhood from the past, Mr. Murat Kurum said that the common history brings the two countries closer to each other every day.
