Within the framework of the 80th United Nations General Assembly, our Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Mr. Murat Kurum, held a meeting in New York with the United Arab Emirates Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Ms. Amna Al Dahak Al Shamsi.
During the meeting, topics such as Türkiye’s COP31 candidacy, Zero Waste initiatives, and water resource management were discussed. Following the meeting, Mr. Murat Kurum stated:
“I briefed my esteemed counterpart on our ongoing efforts to combat climate change and environmental issues, particularly the Zero Waste Movement—which has grown into a global environmental initiative—and the Climate Law. I emphasized the importance we attach to international cooperation in addressing the climate crisis and conveyed our expectation for support regarding Türkiye’s COP31 candidacy. We also expressed our willingness to cooperate in developing new technologies for alternative water resource management. I hope that this productive meeting will further strengthen our future joint initiatives.”
Also present at the meeting were our Director General for European Union and Foreign Relations, Mr. İsmail Tüzgen, General Manager of İlbank, Mr. Eyyüp Karahan, and President of the Zero Waste Foundation, Mr. Samed Ağırbaş.
