The Department of EU Investments of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization (MoEU) discussed major infrastructure projects worth an estimated 123 million Euro, with the Municipal Representatives expected to apply for funding under the EU, IPA II fund. The meeting was held on February 19, 2016 to encourage dialogue between the Ministry and potential applicants concerning applicant procedures.
Representatives from the Kars, Sorgun, Suluova, Çarşamba, Aksaray, Van and Sivas Municipalities, who met with MoEU representatives had applied for funding during the IPA I period (2007-2013), but were inconclusive. They are now being given the opportunity to reapply under IPA II. The meeting encouraged discussions between the MoEU and the applicants who exchanged information concerning IPA II application procedures and the way forward for the applicants and their projects.
Specific projects to be financed include: in the municipalities of Kars and Suluova -wastewater treatment plant projects; in the municipalities of: Sorgun, Çarşamba, Aksaray and Sivas -wastewater projects and solid waste projects; in the municipalities of Batman and Van constructions and improvements of comprehensive infrastructure works in the regions includingwaste water treatment, construction and improvement of the collection of sewage and storm water as well as construction and improvement of the infrastructure for the collectionof solid waste, medical waste management as well as the rehabilitation of existingunplanned landfills.
