Construction of Lüleburgaz Wastewater Treatment Plant and Rehabilitation of Kavak Creek Project has been coordinated by the Department of EU Investments within Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. Start-up of Lüleburgaz Wastewater Treatment Plant has been realized on 23 December 2013.
The contract value is approximately 11 million Euro. In the scope of the contract, the following works activities were carried out:
* Construction of Wastewater Treatment Plant
* Extension of 1,8 km main collector for the wastewater treatment plant
* Construction of 390 m discharge main
* Construction of 5,5 km wastewater collection lines, rising main and pumping station
* Kavak Creek Rehabilitation by construction of a 3 400 m (trapezoidal channel) to reduce the flooding problem
The capacity of the Wastewater Treatment Plant constructed on area of 21.000 m2 is 19,440 m3 for the first stage (2025). The WWTP consists of physical treatment (Coarse Screen, Inlet Pumping Station, Fine Screen, Grit and Grease Removal Tanks), biological treatment (extended aeration tanks, secondary clarifiers) and sludge dewatering units.
With the implementation of the investment, the following objectives have been achieved:
* Improvement of wastewater collection and treatment system
* Reduction of the flooding problems
* Improvement of the quality of the receiving body (Ergene River) and improvements in monitoring both at the discharge and receiving body.
