Start-up of Ordu Wastewater Treatment Plant has been realized.

Start-up of Ordu Wastewater Treatment Plant has been realized.

 Construction of Ordu Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and Retrofitting of Kumbaşı WWTP Project has been coordinated by the Department of EU Investments within Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. Start-up of Ordu Wastewater Treatment Plant has been realized on 14 March 2014. The WWTP will treat the wastewater of about 213.000 population.

 

The contract value is approximately 11 million Euro. In the scope of the contract, the following works activities were carried out:

* Construction of Wastewater Treatment Plant.

* Retrofitting of Kumbaşı Wastewater Treatment Plant.

* Construction of Cumhuriyet District Pumping Station

The capacity of the Wastewater Treatment Plant constructed on area of 23.000 m2 is 34.128 m3/day  for the first stage (2025).  The WWTP consists of physical treatment (Coarse Screen, Inlet Pumping Station, Fine Screen, Grit and Grease Removal Tanks), biological treatment (extended aeration tanks, secondary clarifiers) and sludge dryer units.

 

With the implementation of the investment, the following objectives have been achieved:

* Establishing of wastewater treatment system which enables the improvement in the quality of coastal waters in Ordu. Thus, the coastal sites are suitable for Bathing and Ordu Municipality has applied for the blue flag.

* Reduction of pollution load in the Black Sea and improvements in monitoring both at the discharge and receiving body.
