The Inauguration ceremony of "Doğubayazıt Drinking Water Treatment Plant" which was completed by the Department of European Union Investment within the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, aiming to serve 95 thousand citizens, was held on July 25, 2014.
Deputy Minister of Environment and Urbanization Muhammet BALTA, Deputy Undersecretary Murat ZORLUOĞLU, Governor of Ağrı, Mayor of Doğubayazıt, Head of European Union Delegation to Turkey, officials from the European Commission and the European Union Delagation, representatives of stakeholders and civil society have participated in "Doğubayazıt Drinking Water Treatment Plant" inauguration ceremony.
The Project which was launched in 2012 has been completed in two and a half years as a result of intensive work. The construction of 60 km wastewater collector, local wastewater network and Wastewater Treatment Plant is also foreseen in the scope of the Project.
With the commissioning of the plant, potable water in EU standards for 24 hours to Doğubayazıt community has been provided. In the scope of the project, besides the drinking water treatment plant , 53 km of ductile iron main transmission line, 197 km city drinking water supply, drinking water pumping stations, approximately 12,000 house connections and water meter installation, construction of 6 new drinking water reservoir and construction of about 30 meters long bridge has been completed.
