Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, H.E. Murat Kurum, continues Türkiye’s diplomatic engagements regarding its candidacy to host the 31st Conference of the Parties (COP31) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
As part of these efforts, Minister Kurum held a video conference with H.E. Mukhtar Babayev, Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Change of Azerbaijan and President of COP29, and H.E. Chris Bowen, Minister for Climate Change and Energy of Australia.
During the meeting, Minister Kurum emphasized that Türkiye is fully prepared—both logistically and in terms of human resources—to host COP31. He underlined that Türkiye aims to act as a bridge strengthening the green transition between developed and developing countries by steering this process. The parties agreed to meet again ahead of the upcoming UN General Assembly in New York.
Following the meeting, Minister Kurum shared the following message on his social media account:
“We held a video conference meeting with H.E. Mukhtar Babayev, Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Change of Azerbaijan and President of COP29, and H.E.
