At the high-level sessions of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7), Türkiye was represented by Deputy Ministers Fatma Varank and Hasan Suver.
Deputy Minister Hasan Suver addressed participants during the Cultural Opening of the High-Level Session and the Opening Plenary. He also delivered Türkiye’s national statement during the segment where country interventions were presented throughout the day.
Deputy Minister Fatma Varank held a series of bilateral meetings on the margins of the program. She met separately with UN-Habitat Executive Director Anaclaudia Rossbach, ECO Executive Secretary Tatiana Molcean, Climate and Clean Air Coalition Secretariat Head Martina Otto, UN Environment Programme Deputy Executive Director Elizabeth Moruma Mrema, UNEP Forest and Climate Partnership Secretariat Director Dr. Emelyne Cheney, UNCCD Executive Secretary Yasmine Fouad, and UN Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on Climate Action and Just Transition Selwin Hart. Deputy Minister Varank was accompanied in the meetings by our Deputy Director General for EU and Foreign Affairs, Ali Erhan Yılmaz.
