The 18th Sectoral Monitoring Committee for the Environment Operational Programme (EOP) was organised by the Department of European Union Investments (DoEUI) of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization on May 24th 2016 at the Hilton Hotel in Ankara.
The Director of DoEUI, Mr Ferruh Parmaksız and DoEUI experts hosted the meeting, while representatives of the European Commission such as Head of Section of DG REGIO, Mr Argyrios Pisiotis and the Head of Section of the Delegation of the European Union to Turkey, Mr François Begeot were amongst the honourable guests. Other participants included representatives of the Undersecretariat of Treasury, Ministry of EU Affairs, Ministry of Development, Ministry of Labour and Social Security, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, ILBANK A.Ş, and Civil Society Organisations.
Mr Ferruh Parmaksız opened the meeting with welcoming remarks and was followed by Mr Argyrios Pisiotis. The minutes of the 17th SMC were endorsed and following this the progresses made on each item of the agenda was presented.
The status of the projects under 2007-2013 EOP which have been completed, are continuing or will be transferred to the Sector Operational Programme (SOP) for the Environment and Climate Change were presented by the Unit Co-ordinators of the Department. Other issues presented included Payment Forecast for 2016; Information on Audit Related Issues and Status of Staff and an Overview of Monitoring and Implementation Reports, as well as the use of Technical Assistance and Visibility under EOP.
