Climate and Meteorology Cooperation Between Turkey and UAE

A memorandum of understanding was signed between Turkey and the United Arab Emirates for cooperation in the fields of climate and meteorology.

After the meetings between the delegations led by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, 13 agreements were signed between the two countries in different fields. In this context, in order to cooperate in the field of climate and meteorology, between the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and the UAE Climate Change Special Representative Office; The Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Climate Action and the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Meteorology were signed.

With the signed Memorandum of Understanding in the Field of Climate Action;

• “Fast deployment of renewable energy power generation,

• Agricultural innovation and food and water security,

• Decarbonization of heavy industry,

• Adaptability and resilience,

• Nature-based solutions,

• Green finance and investment,

• Empowering women and youth in climate action,

• It was agreed to cooperate under the headings of “Science and Research Collaborations”.

 

With the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Meteorology;

• “Modern forecasting techniques, including the use of digital weather forecasting models and satellite and weather radars,

• Predicting meteorological events and early warnings of related disasters,

• Feasibility, installation, operation and calibration of Meteorological Observation Systems,

• Increasing capacity and information sharing on weather and climate monitoring and forecasting,

• Activities related to Aviation and Marine Meteorology Services,

• Decisions were taken to carry out cooperation studies under the headings of “information technologies and communication infrastructure in the field of meteorology”.
