The Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between Turkey and Angola in the Field of Urbanism was signed by Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum and Angola Minister of Public Works and Land Planning Manuel Tavares de Almeida.
Following bilateral visits by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Angola President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço in 2021, the "Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Urbanism" was signed in Ankara. Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum and Angola Minister of Public Works and Land Planning Manuel Tavares de Almeida signed the memorandum of understanding, which includes the headings "Spatial Planning and Urban Transformation", "Geographic Information Systems", "National Real Estate", "Land Registry, Cadastral and Map", "Capacity Building for Local Governments" and "Urban Infrastructure Investments".
Institutional Contact Between Ministries Will Be Strengthened
Minister Murat Kurum, speaking at the signing ceremony; the agreement will strengthen institutional contacts between the ministries of the two countries. Emphasizing that they want Angola to grow and develop planned, the Minister said that within this framework, as the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, they will show all kinds of dedication.
President Erdogan's Visit Is Crucial for Angola
Minister Manuel Tavares de Almeida said President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visits had very important consequences for Angola, adding that the Angola government had started work to make the country's economy multifaceted. Tavares; land planning, urban transformation, geographical information systems, real estate studies, mapping of land assets, cadastral studies, capacity strengthening and urban infrastructure studies will contribute to the development of the social and economic environment of both countries.

Memorandum of understanding; strengthening the friendship relations and strategic partnership between the two countries and developing cooperation in the field of urbanism; it aims to expand solutions for existing and potential urban problems and opportunities to develop sustainable, safe and high-quality settlements and cities in terms of the well-being of today's and future generations. Acknowledging the importance of a sustainable development approach to improving urban services, the memorandum of understanding emphasizes the importance of joint efforts to promote and achieve internationally agreed development goals, especially sustainable livelihoods and environmental sustainability goals. In the memorandum of understanding; it is stated that such cooperation will serve the common interests of the parties and contribute to their economic and social development.
