Deputy Minister Fatma Varank held a bilateral meeting with Maša Kociper, State Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office of Slovenia, on the margins of her Cairo programme.
The meeting addressed cooperation between Türkiye and Slovenia in sustainable urbanisation, waste management, circular economy and climate adaptation. Both sides underlined the importance of strengthening joint efforts for the protection of the Mediterranean, sustainable management of marine and coastal ecosystems, and improving resilience against environmental risks.
Deputy Minister Varank shared information on Türkiye’s first Climate Law, which entered into force in July 2025, the 2053 net-zero target and the submission of Türkiye’s Second Nationally Determined Contribution during the COP30 process. She also highlighted the global influence of the Zero Waste Initiative and the importance of fostering a culture of sustainable living.
Emphasising Türkiye’s historic responsibility as the COP31 host and presidency, Deputy Minister Varank proposed developing concrete cooperation with Slovenia in climate finance and technology transfer.
