Deputy Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Mr. Ömer Bulut met with First Deputy Minister of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Ms. Alona Shkrum and her accompanying delegation in Geneva.
The meeting, held at the United Nations Office at Geneva, took place within the framework of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Ministerial Conference on Urban Development, Housing and Land Management.
At the meeting, Mr. Bulut expressed his condolences for the Ukrainians who lost their lives in the war and emphasized Türkiye’s strong support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence since the beginning of the conflict.
Stressing that the war must end with a just and lasting peace based on Ukraine’s legitimate interests and international law, Mr. Bulut reaffirmed that Türkiye will continue its political, economic, and technical support to Ukraine. He stated that Türkiye is ready to contribute to the country’s reconstruction process, adding: “Following the great disaster we experienced, we rebuilt an area the size of a European country by completing 300,000 houses in just two years. Today, we produce 23 houses per hour and 550 per day. We would be pleased to share this experience with Ukraine.”
Mr. Bulut also underlined that Turkish construction companies, which already have a strong presence in Ukraine, can make a significant contribution to the post-war reconstruction process. He noted that Turkish firms have so far undertaken more than 300 projects worth over 10 billion dollars, and despite the challenges of war, have successfully carried out over 70 projects worth 1 billion dollars since February 2022.
Deputy Minister Ömer Bulut reaffirmed that Türkiye stands by the people of Ukraine and is ready to fulfill its part in the country’s reconstruction efforts.
