COP31 President Murat Kurum Attends the Petersberg Climate Dialogue

The Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and COP31 President, Murat Kurum, attended the Petersberg Climate Dialogue meeting held in Berlin.

Speaking at the Opening Session of the Petersberg Climate Dialogue, Murat Kurum outlined Türkiye’s COP31 vision and shared expectations for the process. Emphasizing their commitment to delivering a results-oriented “COP of the future,” he highlighted priorities such as clean energy, sustainable agriculture, circular economy, resilient cities, and inclusive cooperation. He also stated that Türkiye aims to contribute to building a more just, inclusive, and functional global order.

As part of the Berlin program, COP31 President Murat Kurum held a press conference, noting that they will work with all groups and civil society organizations to provide real solutions to real problems at COP31.

During his visit, Murat Kurum also held bilateral meetings with Carsten Schneider, Katie White, Shigeharu Aoyama, and Simon Stiell. During these meetings, Türkiye’s COP31 vision was presented and opportunities for global cooperation were discussed.

Addressing participants at the second session of the Petersberg Climate Dialogue, Murat Kurum provided comprehensive assessments on accelerating the global energy transition and increasing clean energy investments. He also spoke at the High-Level Segment of the Dialogue, held with the participation of Friedrich Merz, emphasizing that the meetings held within the framework of the Petersberg Climate Dialogue—which strengthens international cooperation against the climate crisis—will make concrete contributions toward achieving global climate goals.
