Deputy Minister Ms. Fatma Varank Discussed COP31 Cooperation with World Bank Representatives

Deputy Minister Ms. Fatma Varank held a meeting with Mr. Kamal Kishore, Head of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), focusing on disaster management and climate vision.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that the recovery efforts carried out after the 6 February earthquakes go beyond housing construction and are being implemented through a holistic approach that prioritizes social facilities, infrastructure, and quality of life. While highlighting Türkiye’s risk prevention and risk reduction–oriented approach, it was stated that this strategy is pursued in coordination with climate change adaptation policies.

Within the framework of Türkiye’s COP31 vision, the importance of climate-resilient cities, early warning systems, and local-level risk reduction efforts was discussed. Taking place ahead of the anniversary of the 6 February earthquakes, the visit served as a strong indication of international solidarity in support of the projects carried out by Türkiye.
