Deputy Minister Ms. Fatma Varank Meets with UNFPA Türkiye Representative Ms. Khan

Our Deputy Minister Ms. Fatma Varank held a meeting with Ms. Mariam A. Khan, Türkiye Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). Director General for EU and Foreign Relations Mr. İsmail Tüzgen also attended the meeting. Areas of cooperation between Türkiye and UNFPA were discussed.

During the delegation-level meeting, preparations for COP31 and joint work priorities for 2026 were reviewed. In this context, increasing youth participation in climate action, strengthening climate literacy, and addressing demographic data together with climate risks were among the key issues discussed.

The parties also addressed enhancing people-centered climate solutions at the local level through municipalities and governorates, organizing joint events during COP31, and carrying out communication and visibility activities throughout the year. Steps toward institutionalizing this cooperation within a formal framework were also evaluated.
