Our Deputy Minister Ms. Fatma Varank Attends the Energy and Climate Meeting

The meeting titled “Energy Markets, Security and Geopolitics on the Road to COP31,” hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ankara, was attended as keynote speakers by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ms. Berris Ekinci, our Deputy Minister and Chief Climate Negotiator Ms. Fatma Varank, and Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA) Dr. Fatih Birol.

In her remarks, Ms. Varank emphasized Türkiye’s strong commitment to combating climate change and advancing the energy transition, stating that the country’s energy strategy is built primarily on renewable energy, particularly solar power.

Ms. Varank also noted that regulations implemented last year paved the way for renewable energy investments. She added that during the COP31 Presidency, efforts will be made to increase the participation of youth, children, and vulnerable groups in climate action, and that close cooperation will be carried out with “Climate Ambassadors” and “Youth Representatives” within this framework.
