Our Deputy Minister Ms. Fatma Varank Discussed the COP31 Host Country Agreement with UNFCCC Executive Secretary Mr. Simon Stiell

Our Deputy Minister Ms. Fatma Varank met with UNFCCC Executive Secretary Mr. Simon Stiell and representatives of the Secretariat to discuss the COP31 Host Country Agreement within the framework of the COP31 Strategic Mission Meeting.

Ms. Varank emphasized that the Agreement is the key document defining the organizational, financial, and legal framework of COP31. She noted that the text is broadly aligned with established practices, while certain technical issues will be addressed through consultations to ensure a more efficient process.

Stating that Türkiye’s preparations are continuing with determination, Ms. Varank underlined their openness to all technical negotiation processes and expressed confidence that the Agreement will be finalized swiftly on the basis of a shared understanding.
