The 11th Steering CommitteeMeeting (SCM) of the Amasya Water and Waste Water Project was held on 15 March 2016, in Amasya. The main topics approached during the event were: the current situation and general assessment of the project.
The SCM was attended by Mrs. Meltem Yılmaz, Contract Expert from the Technical Implementation Unit of the Department of European Union Investments of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and Mrs. Çiğdem ÇOYGUN HANDY, Sector Manager of Environment and Infrastructure from the Delegation of the European Union to Turkey.
The project will finance the construction of a waste water collecting and treatment system that will reduce the pollution dumped into the Black Sea. The municipalities of Amasya and Ziyaret will benefit of this construction.
In order to ensure the financial and sustainability of the operational performance of the Water Unit capacity building activities are foreseen. Amasya and Ziyaret Municipalities’ harmonization with the EU Acquis in water sector will also be achieved. The project, which has a total budget of 29,896,382.00 Euro, is funded by national, municipal and European Union funds under IPA.
