The Workshop on Wastewater Management in Turkey is being held in Belek, in the Serik district of Antalya. It is organized by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Department of European Union Investments and Delegation of the European Union to Turkey.The workshop is taking place on 25-27 April 2017 with the participation of the Undersecretary of the  Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Dr. Mustafa Öztürk, the Head of Section of the EU Delegation to Turkey, François Bégeot and the Director of the Department of European Union Investments, İsmail Raci Bayer. 

Problems within the wastewater sector in Turkey, suggestions for solutions, projects and new technologies will be discussed. The Undersecretary of the Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Dr. Mustafa Öztürk, declared that "Turkey is aiming to provide treatment facilities for 100% of all provinces by 2023. During the workshop the action plan to acheieve the 2023 target will be discussed and presented. At present, 81% of Municipalities have wastewater treatment plants and we would like to reach 100% by 2023. We would like to reach a target where there will be no untreated wastewater, something which will provide a sustainable environment with better water quality water resources. During the conference, we will present new systems for using our limited water resources without polluting them. 
 
The workshop is focused on the following subjects: capacity building for local administration and financial management, new technologies for wastewater treatment, design of wastewater treatment plants and operational problems, wastewater sludge management, wastewater management in industry, wastewater management for the EU accession process. The Workshop on Wastewater Management in Turkey will welcome 350 participants, including scientists, representatives from NGOs and municipalities and will end on 27 April 2017.
