The participants had the chance to see the best practices and new technologies applied in Germany and the Netherlands by being informed by international Grontmij experts as well as by visiting several facilities which were guided by facility representatives.

In Germany, the study tour consisted of visits to Duisburg-Vierlinden Wastewater Treatment Plant, Flingern Incineration Plant, Landfill Hubbelrath and Solingen Incineration Plant, and in the Netherlands it included the visit to Wervershoof Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The Delegation also visited the German Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Agriculture, Nature Conservation and Consumer Protection of the German State of North Rhine Westphalia, Düsseldorf and met with Mr. Mertsch and Mrs. Kastel, who are responsible for wastewater related issues within the Ministry. This meeting gave the visiting delegation an excellent opportunity to compare the legal requirements and applications in Germany and Turkey.
