The Progress of Diyarbakır Solid Waste Management Project was discussed.

A progress meeting was held on March 28th, 2016 to discuss the progress of the Diyarbakır Solid Waste Management Projectwhich is managed by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization (MoEU). 

The meeting was attended by the Director of the Department of European Union Investments (DoEUI) of MoEU Ferruh Parmaksız along with other DoEUI members Özlem Esengin, Coordinator of Technical Implemantation Unit, Tolay Yılmaz, Advisor to the Director and Senior Expert Mehmet Ali Özmenek. The representatives from the Project Implementation Unit and the Consultant company participated too. 

The participants were brought up to date on the latest developments of the contracted works. Twenty five percent (%25) of construction of the landfill has been completed in terms of the foundations and the relevant infrastructure of access road to Sevindik construction side. The landfillwill have a storage capacity of approximately 3.85 million m3

This contract also foresees the construction of a civic amenity center, medical waste sterilization unit along with the closing down and rehabilitation of the dumpsite in Diyarbakır city center. Furthermore, the dumpsites in Bismil, Ergani, Dicle and Hani districts will be replaced by transfer stations. The necessary equipment and vehicles for waste collecting, transfering, sorting and regular collecting will also be purchased under this contract.
