Minister Murat Kurum attended the introductory meeting held before the 36th World Habitat Day Event to be hosted by Turkey and made a speech.
Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum attended the introductory meeting held before the 36th World Habitat Day Event to be held in Balıkesir on October 3rd. Receiving United Nations (UN) Habitat Executive Director Maimunah Mohd Sharif before the program, Minister Kurum consulted with Sharif about the program.
In his speech at the introductory meeting, the Minister Kurum stated that the theme of this year's World Habitat Day was determined as "Leaving No One and No Place Behind" and that Turkey; he said they were preparing events in line with this particular theme. Reminding that they signed a “Declaration of Goodwill” with UN Habitat Executive Director Sharif during their visit to the UN General Assembly in NewYork to host the program, Minister Kurum said, “Mr. Sharif, who supports Turkey and the Zero Waste Movement on every platform, is now one of us. On behalf of our country and nation, I would like to express my endless gratitude.” said.
Stating that this year's theme of World Habitat Day has been determined as "Leaving No One and Nowhere Behind", Minister Kurum said, "We will focus on increasing inequality and difficulties, especially in cities, together with our valuable participants, universities, professors and guests from abroad. Both we and all countries of the world will benefit from the consultations here.” he said.
Wishing that all the events to be held will eliminate inequalities in the world and lead to the beginning of new stories for humanity, Minister Kurum said, “We welcome each and every member of our beloved nation to our events; We invite you to our Balıkesir.”
