Our Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Mr. Murat Kurum, held an important meeting in New York during the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Minister Kurum met with Australia’s Minister for Climate Change and Energy, Chris Bowen, and the Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan on Climate Change and COP29 President, Mukhtar Babayev, in a joint meeting. The discussions focused on Türkiye’s candidacy for the COP31 Presidency.

“Our COP31 Candidacy Is Also Important for the Future of the World”

Following the meeting, Minister Kurum stated that Türkiye considers its COP31 candidacy not only a significant step for our countries but also for the future of the world. He emphasized that Türkiye will continue working with all its resources within the framework of its green development vision.

Under the leadership of Minister Kurum, this engagement carried out within the scope of Türkiye’s climate diplomacy holds great importance in strengthening cooperation and coordination regarding the COP31 process.
