Within the scope of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York, Deputy Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Ms. Fatma Varank held a meeting with UK Department for Energy, Security and Net Zero Deputy Minister for Climate Ms. Katie White.
At the delegation-level meeting chaired by both Deputy Ministers, Türkiye’s efforts towards its 2053 Net Zero Emission Target and its candidacy to host COP31 were discussed. The two sides reached a consensus on enhancing Türkiye–UK cooperation in combating climate change.
The meeting was also attended by President of Climate Change Prof. Dr. Halil Hasar and Deputy Director General for EU and Foreign Affairs Mr. Ali Erhan Yılmaz.
