Deputy Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, H.E. Fatma Varank, held meetings with delegations from Pakistan and North Macedonia on September 4, 2025, within the scope of the International Technical Training on Cooperation for Air Quality Management.
The meetings, which took place at the Ministry, were attended by Silvat Saeed, Secretary of the Department of Environmental Protection and Climate Change, Tariq Hussain, Project Director, and Muhammad Zeeshan Manzoor, Senior Officer, from Pakistan; and Ane Lashkoska, Deputy Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, and Ivana Ginovska, Director of the State Environmental Inspectorate, from North Macedonia. From Türkiye, İsmail Tüzgen, Director General for EU and Foreign Affairs, and Fatih Turan, Director General for Environmental Management, were also present.
Türkiye’s Experience Shared
In the meeting with the Pakistani delegation, cooperation opportunities to address air pollution in Punjab Province were discussed. Both meetings also focused on the use of Türkiye’s in-house developed HEY Portal and NEFES software as decision-support mechanisms in air quality management, as well as green transformation practices in heating, industry and transportation, and sustainable production-consumption approaches.
Deputy Minister Varank highlighted Türkiye’s practical examples in these areas, underlining the importance of joint trainings and workshops. The parties also reached a consensus on experience sharing and technical cooperation.
