Deputy Minister of Environment, Urbanism and Climate Change Ömer Bulut received the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Mr. Amr Elhamami, in Ankara. During the meeting, cooperation between the two countries was evaluated ahead of the World Urbanism Forum (WUF12) to be held in Egypt.
Deputy Minister Mr. Bulut drew attention to the importance of this global event, prepared in cooperation with UN-Habitat, for the sustainable future of cities and thanked Ambassador Elhamami for the support the Egyptian government has given to the preparations for the forum.
Stating that the Turkish delegation will participate in the events at the forum, Mr. Bulut stated that he believes that the two countries sharing their experiences will make significant contributions to this process.
Forward-Looking Cooperation in the Field of Environmental Protection and Urbanization
The meeting also discussed the steps to be taken in areas such as environmentally friendly technologies, waste management, urban transformation and spatial planning within the scope of the “Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Environmental Protection and Urbanization” previously signed between Türkiye and Egypt.
At the end of the meeting, our Deputy Minister Mr. Bulut stated that Türkiye was open to cooperation with the Egyptian government in possible joint events that could be organized during the World Urbanization Forum. Stating that this global event would reinforce the steps taken for the sustainable future of cities, Bulut once again thanked Egypt and Ambassador Elhamami for their contributions to the organization.
