'Mediterranean-Pa Award' for the 'Zero Waste' Project

The Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly (MEDITERRANEAN-PA) Award, which is given to projects that contribute to the peace and prosperity of the region with their activities in the European, Mediterranean and Gulf regions, was given to the 'Zero Waste' project, which has become a world brand. Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Mehmet Özhaseki received the award at a ceremony held in Portugal today on behalf of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his wife Mrs. Emine Erdoğan.

The 'Zero Waste' project, which was launched in 2017 under the auspices of Mrs. Emine Erdoğan, the wife of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, continues to receive awards worldwide for its success. The 'Zero Waste' project, which has made a name for itself with its efforts to create a cleaner, more developed and sustainable TÜrkiye by reducing waste production, encouraging recycling and protecting natural resources, was recently deemed worthy of the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly (MEDITERRANEAN-PA) Award.

The Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Mr. Mehmet Özhaseki, received the award at a ceremony held in Braga, Portugal. Minister Özhaseki, who received the award from PAM Secretary General Mr. Sergio Piazzi at the ceremony held at the Forum Braga Conference Hall, expressed his pleasure to be a party to the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly and to contribute to the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly. At the Braga program, Mr. Özhaseki was accompanied by the Director General of European Union and Foreign Relations, Assistant Professor Hüseyin Bayraktar.

 

“Zero Waste Movement Has Become An Environmental Movement That The Whole World Takes As An Example”

 

In his speech at the ceremony, Minister Özhaseki stated that the Zero Waste Movement has become an environmental movement and economic cycle model that the whole world takes as an example. Pointing out that the Zero Waste Movement both protects the environment and prevents waste, Minister Özhaseki said, "We transform the wastes generated in all areas of our lives and bring them into the economy. Thanks to the collected wastes; 185 billion TL of economic gain was achieved. 498 million trees were saved. With our Zero Waste Blue movement, which we created to combat marine pollution, we have recycled 7.8 million tons of plastic waste."
