Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Mr. Murat Kurum held a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the International Zero Waste Forum in Istanbul.
As part of the Forum, Mr. Kurum met with Montenegro’s Minister of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property Mr. Slaven Radunovic; Mali’s Minister of Environment, Sanitation and Sustainable Development Ms. Doumbia Mariam Tangara; Syria’s Minister of Local Administration and Environment Mr. Mohammed Anjarani; Azerbaijan’s Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Change and COP29 President Mr. Mukhtar Babayev; Malaysia’s Minister of Housing and Local Government Mr. Nga Kor Ming; Uzbekistan’s Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change Mr. Aziz Abdukhakimov; and the Special Presidential Envoy for Climate Change of the Russian Federation Mr. Ruslan Edelgeriev.
The discussions focused on cooperation in zero waste policies, sustainable environmental management, urban development, housing, circular economy, combating climate change, and preparations for the COP31 process. Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Spatial Planning was signed with Montenegro to strengthen bilateral collaboration in the fields of environment and urban development.
During the meetings, Minister Kurum was accompanied by Deputy Minister Ms. Fatma Varank, President of Climate Change Prof. Dr. Halil Hasar, Director General for European Union and Foreign Affairs Mr. İsmail Tüzgen, Director General of İlbank Mr. Eyüp Karahan, and President of TOKİ Mr. Mustafa Levent Sungur.
