Siverek Waste Water Project was recently discussed by the main involved parties

The Monthly Progress Meeting of the Siverek Waste Water Project, launched under the coordinationofthe Ministry of Environment and Urbanization was held in Ankara, on March 4th 2016.
The meeting was chaired by Mr Ferruh Parmaksız, Head of the Department of European Union Investments (DoEUI) of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization (MoEU). On this occasion, Mr. Parmaksiz was informedabout the current status of the project. Also the participants discussed the next steps in the implementation.
The first component of the Siverek Water Project started in February 2012 and the second component was launched in January 2014. It is financed under IPA I Environment Operational Program (EOP). The project aims at protectingthe environment and increasing the living standards of the 120,000 citizens of Siverek with the construction of a Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP). Prior to this initiative, there was no appropriate sewerage system and wastewater treatment facility in the area.
The meeting was attended by: the Mayor of Siverek, Resul Yılmaz, General Director of Şanlıurfa Water and Sewerage Administration, Hamdi Us, the coordinator from DoEUI, Özlem Esengin, representatives from the Delegation of the EU to Turkey, other contract managers and the consultant and contractor firms.
