Our Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Mr. Murat Kurum, met with Azerbaijani Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Mr. Muhtar Babayev, in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. The meeting was held within the scope of the event titled “Pre-COP 29: Increasing Determination, Activating Action”, organized prior to the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP 29) to the United Nations (UN) Framework Convention on Climate Change, which Azerbaijan will host on November 11-22.

During the meeting, strengthening the cooperation between the two countries in combating the climate crisis, Türkiye's contributions to COP 29 and Türkiye's candidacy for COP 31 were discussed. Minister Murat Kurum, in his statement, said, "We will continue our efforts in the fight against the climate crisis with the understanding of 'One nation, two states', in unity of strength and heart." Emphasizing that Türkiye and Azerbaijan will undertake important projects in the field of environment, Kurum stated that they will continue to act jointly in this direction.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Kurum thanked Mr. Babayev for this valuable meeting and wished Azerbaijan success in its COP29 Presidency.
