The COP29 Conference of the Parties to be held in Baku on November 11-22 will be an important turning point for Türkiye’s climate goals. At this meeting, our country’s 2053 Long-Term Climate Change Strategy, based on the 2053 Net Zero Emission Target, will be announced.
Türkiye’s strategy in combating climate change and preparations for COP29 were evaluated at the Climate Change and Adaptation Coordination Board (CDCCC) convened under the chairmanship of our Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Mr. Murat Kurum. Our Deputy Minister, Ms. Fatma Varank, Climate Change Director, Prof. Dr. Halil Hasar, and representatives from many institutions and organizations were present at the meeting. Within the framework of the decisions taken at the end of the meeting, it was shared with the public that Türkiye’s “2053 Long-Term Climate Change Strategy” will be announced to the world at the COP29 Conference of the Parties.
Decisive Steps Will Be Taken Against the Climate Crisis
As part of the meeting, new collaborations in combating climate change and practices that will support the implementation of this strategy were evaluated. This roadmap that we will present at COP29 will ensure that Türkiye takes decisive steps against the climate crisis and will determine the steps our country will take in the process of achieving its green development goals.
